Sandals LaSource Resort & Spa Review & Stay
After spending 7 nights at this resort, trying every one of their 10 restaurants, and enjoying all that the island of Grenada has to offer – our summary of this resort can be said in two words “truly breathtaking.”
We already love the Sandals brand mostly because of the attention to detail and the level of quality and service they provide for the cost.
That being said, we’ve spent time at almost every property in the Sandals and Beaches portfolio, and have enjoyed them all. However, this resort is special. The flow, nearly perfect landscaping, options, décor, and service all make this resort one of our personal favorite vacation spots.
The island of Grenada feels untouched. I think the fact that not many cruise ships stop there has really helped the island maintain that true island secluded feel. It’s not very “touristy.” Which we kinda like.
Resort flow and Looks
The resort flows incredibly well – everything is within a reasonable walk. This is one of the lushest islands we’ve ever visited, and along with that, the resort landscaping was stunning. Mature Caribbean palm trees line nearly every walk way. The resort (and island as a whole) is very hilly, giving it a very tropical authentic feel, and also giving many great views from various parts of the resort. The resort also sits on its own private beach. (a few images we captured below).
Rooms
We had a club level ocean front room that boasted an incredible oceanfront view and balcony. The room also had a modern tropical feel along with the following:
-Real wooden beamed ceilings, tile floors throughout.
-Walk-in closet with wooden racks for clothes and shoes
-Modern bathroom with walk in shower, dual shower head and rain shower spout. The shower was really neat – it offered a private window that looked out through your windows to see the Caribbean sea and island.
-Private mini bar – top shelf liquors, local beer, and Robert Mondavi wine
-Large flats screen Smart TV with interactive resort directory, dining, and activity reservation system.

This property also has the famous “Sky Pool Suites” – which is a suite that offers an infinity pool right off your balcony. We toured it, and yes, it’s as incredible as it sounds…
Things to Do on Property
With plenty of lounge chairs on the private beach and two main pools, relaxing and recharging the batteries is one of the top things to do during the day. The two main pools on property offer something for everyone. If you’re looking to unwind and read, the infinity pool that’s ocean front is the best choice for you. If you’re looking for something a tad bit more upbeat – the pool in the back offers a swim up bar and pool volley ball net (with organized games running during the day by the Sandals entertainment staff – yeah we played a few games and won most of them, George is a little competitive!).
This resort also offers the Sandal’s branded Red Lane Spa, and a REALLY nice gym with free weights, dumbbells, machines, and various treadmills / cardio machine options. (Be careful – Dino’s Pizza bar is right around the corner from the gym, we regularly went to the gym and ended up grabbing a pizza on the way back to our room from the Dino’s buffet….it’s vacation right?)
We also Toured a Local School and Read to Kids (Reading Road Trip)
Sandal’s offers a reading road trip. The Sandals Foundation will coordinate a trip to a local school where you get the opportunity to tour the school and spend time with the staff and kids there. We got to read to many kids and it was so much fun! This was truly a wonderful and fulfilling experience! We always recommend to #GiveBack and take a few hours out of your vacation to donate to the local island!
Resort Dining Options
LaSource has 10 restaurants on site. Since we tried them all, we’d have to say that Butch’s Steakhouse is our favorite. We’ve eaten at many restaurants on many different resorts and brands, and Butch’s takes our top spot for the best restaurant in the Caribbean. This is an American style steakhouse with a modern Caribbean twist. Food quality and venue gets a 10 out of 10 for us. We will have a more detailed review of this restaurant coming soon, but to sum it all up – this steakhouse could mirror almost any great steakhouse in the U.S.

Another restaurant we really liked was Soy. This restaurant has beautiful décor along with a sushi bar. The sushi here was some of the best I’ve had in the Caribbean. Very fresh and well put together. You can order everything from rolls, tempura, nirgi, and sashimi.

To Summarize
We highly recommend this resort if you’re looking for a more secluded experience. This resort is perfect for those looking for less adventure and more relaxing – a tiki beach hut with chairs and a drink:
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
It’s only been 43 years since Grenada claimed its independence from Great Britain. Since Great Britain controlled the island prior to that, most of what is developed is based around European standards. That being said – finding a standard power outlet, like the ones we power things daily with in the US, can be hard to find. In our room we did find two standard outlets – one behind a lamp on the night stand, and one near the vanity in the bathroom. There are USB ports for charging various items also in the room.
Grenada is also known as the “spice island” – at one point is was the worlds largest exporter of Nut Meg. Many of the local rums and food has a nice spice to it.
This is a true gem of the Caribbean, less traveled than others, but truly a special place.
