Our Stay at Sandals Regency La Toc, Castries, St. Lucia (review on food, rooms, & resort).
We enjoyed 8 nights in St. Lucia and visited three different properties while there. We spent the majority of our time at Sandals Regency La Toc (7 nights), which is the resort we actually honeymooned at 😊.
At La Toc we ate at all 9 restaurants this resort had to offer and probably sipped a beverage at each of the eight bars/lounges.
We will get to our thoughts on the resort, restaurants, and food at La Toc in a sec. If you would like to see a short video on our entire experience on the island check out the 3 minute video below.
Once we landed in St. Lucia we took a private helicopter over to our resort (which was awesome, we HIGHLY recommend doing that). During our stay we also hiked the pitons (it was tough but fun), and volunteered at a local school. All along with enjoying the resorts. It was an excellent trip!
Back to the written review:
Getting to the Property from the Airport:
La Toc is about an hour and a half transfer from the airport. You can book a helicopter that will take you from the main airport to a smaller airport that is only about ten minutes from La Toc, which is what we did (the entire time in the air is just 11 minutes, getting you to the resort over an hour quicker and the views are incredible, WELL worth it).
Resort Flow and Looks:
La Toc, like the island of St. Lucia is very hilly. What also comes with an volcanic island is extremely lush greenery. The landscaping and island as whole is extremely dense with tropical trees, plants, and beautiful palms.
Because the resort is so hilly and wide spread you will walk more than normal to get to certain restaurants and areas on property. The resort is not very flat.
Sandals does offer an in-resort transfer van that will take you to your room from the two main lobbies the resort has – this was a huge help as our room was in the middle of the property.
Our pictures of this incredible resort below:
Rooms:
We stayed in an Emerald Honeymoon Hideaway Grand Lux room which was somewhat close to the main lobby area and the majority of the restaurants and lounges on site.
The room offered:
-Large walk in closet
-Mini bar with Beer and Wine
-Large flat screen TV
-Nice sitting area with coffee table
-King bed
-Nice views of the lush St.Lucian Greenery
-The bathroom was a smaller than what we’ve had in the past but that was expected as it was part of the room category we staked in.
Video of our room:
Room Location – as noted above you can see It was a short walk to the main lobby but a much longer walk to the northern part of the resort, which is where our favorite pool was at along with the Italian Restaurant.
Things To Do On Property (Including a 9 hole golf course)
It was very easy to relax on this property, it had a very calming feel to it. It is not as upbeat as other propertied which is what we like when we are recharging the batteries.
The larger pool near the main lobby was a more upbeat pool than the smaller pool at the top of the property. We spent the vast majority of our time at the smaller pool at the top of the property. They had relaxing island music playing behind the swim up bar, along with water falls flowing into the pool, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a million dollar view of the Caribbean Sea.
During the day at the main pool the entertainment staff offered fun games during the day such as name that tune and trivia. It was fun to sit at the bar and partake in the games. They last only about a 30 minutes and they were enjoyable.
At night the property lights up! They have a number of beautiful flights that showcase the lush greenery the resort offers.
There is also plenty of live music at night, along with various shows, and games to partake in.
The entertainment seems to be top notch at these properties and this resort had themed events every few days (we attended a white chocolate party with a chocolate buffet. It had very high quality desserts to enjoy!).
This resort also has a 9-hole golf course on property, which was super convenient. Your cart fee is $30, Taylormade rental clubs are $20, and the caddy is $10 + tip.
I have to say this course had some nice views, however the 9-hole course was very short and the fairways are not what you get in the states. The greens were good, and overall it was a nice to get in a quick 9 while on this property.
Lastly, we enjoyed some spa treatments at the Red Lane Spa. We had a couple’s massage as well as a hot stone massage. We do not get massages often so we do not have much to compare it to, however the massages were great. (some of the equipment in the spas do need updating, however it did not impact the quality of the massage!)
Resort Dining and Lounges
With nine restaurants and 8 lounges there was plenty of options to eat and drink at during our stay at La Toc.
Our favorite restaurant on property is called La Toc. It’s their French restaurant with white glove service and great food! We enjoyed the food the food there the most but the Pitons restaurant was a close second. The Piton’s offered open air dining near the beach where you can hear the waves crashing at night, great scenery.
Right next to the Pitons was Herbie’s Piano Bar, which had live piano player almost every night! That was our favorite lounge – if you’re feeling brave you can sing along to classic and modern songs as the piano player plays. It offers a huge bar and always had a fun crowd! A great place to cap the night off at.
Lastly, we really enjoyed the Cricketers Pub, a European themed pub that offered a pub menu with authentic pub drinks. A few times a week they offered karaoke, which looked fun but we never hung around for it.
*Extra* We paid for a private dinner for two on the beach on our last night! It was incredible, the food was amazing and the service and setting was very intimate. The white glove service combined with the waves crashing near us and the tiki touch lit setting, it was incredible! This is a great add on to take advantage of on your trip – especially if you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or just life in general!
In Summary
To summarize, we REALLY enjoyed this property, they have a vast array of different restaurants to dine at and fun places to enjoy a cocktail. The smaller pool at the top of the property was so much fun to relax at. The property does offer a little bit of everything, especially for golf lovers. It was nice to have that right on property. Because St. Lucia is a volcanic island, you do get a hilly landscape, and depending on your room you may have a long walk to various places on property (if you pass on the intra resort transfer). But La Toc makes up for those longer walks with incredible dining options and plenty of things to do!
To top it all off you have the option to take a free shuttle the other two Sandals properties in St. Lucia. The shuttles run throughout the day and late into the night so you can try the other properties while staying at La Toc.
