Full Review of Secrets Baby Beach in Aruba: A Brand-New All-Inclusive Gem
At Penyak Travel, we’re passionate about uncovering the best destinations for our clients, and our recent trip to Aruba gave us the chance to experience something truly special. We did a split stay, starting with three nights at the intimate, adults-only Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort before heading to the brand-new Secrets Baby Beach for another three nights. This contrast between a boutique vibe and a larger all-inclusive resort was eye-opening, and we’re excited to share our in-depth review of Secrets Baby Beach. As one of the first guests just two months after its opening in 2025, we got a fresh look at what this property has to offer. If you’re dreaming of a Caribbean escape, read on for our honest take—and remember, we can help plan your perfect trip at no extra cost.
Getting to Secrets Baby Beach: Flights, Transfers, and Pro Tips
Aruba is conveniently accessible from the U.S., with nonstop flights taking about four hours from Charlotte or two and a half from Miami. We flew from Charleston via Houston due to last-minute booking, but major hubs like Atlanta or Charlotte are ideal for East Coasters.
One standout tip: Aruba offers a VIP fast-track arrival service similar to Jamaica’s Club Mobay. At $155 per person, it escorts you through immigration and customs. We landed around 3:30 PM in August (off-peak), and the lines weren’t bad, but during holidays or spring break, it’s a must to avoid hours of waiting. Tourism has outpaced the airport’s capacity, so plan accordingly.
The resort is about 30 minutes from the airport in Aruba’s remote southeast corner—far from the bustling Palm Beach or Eagle Beach areas. Private round-trip transfers cost around $200–$250 for two. If you’re splitting stays like we did, note that taxis from Bucuti to Secrets were $60 cash only, as no companies would arrange a transfer in advance.
Pro tip: For departure, the VIP service ($155/person) is non-negotiable in our book. Aruba requires clearing U.S. customs there, leading to multiple long lines (check-in, security, immigration, and exit). We skipped it all and relaxed in the lounge (add-on $67/person—not worth it for the tiny space and subpar food). Without it, our van mates waited 45–60 minutes just to enter. Give yourself 3–4 hours at the airport during peak times.
Resort Overview: A Desert Oasis with Stunning Views
Secrets Baby Beach is a ground-up build with 304 rooms (expanding to 900 eventually), set on a hillside overlooking rocky coastline and turquoise waters. The desert theme shines through with cacti, sand-inspired landscaping, and palm trees creating a wow-factor arrival. It’s adults-only, all-inclusive, and feels luxurious yet walkable—perfect for those with mobility concerns, as it’s flat with elevators everywhere.
The southeast location means isolation: no walkable shops or restaurants nearby, but that’s part of the appeal for a resort-focused stay. For downtown Oranjestad vibes, rent a car on-site ($150/day for a convertible Mustang or $250 for a Jeep Wrangler) or take a transfer. We recommend 1–2 days exploring Aruba’s scene on a 5-night trip.
The constant breeze (Aruba’s windy reputation amplified here) keeps things comfortable, even in the heat. Open-air areas feel invigorating, and infinity pools offer million-dollar ocean views. Future additions like a 20,000 sq ft convention center, casino (opening December 2025), and more dining will make it even better.
Our Room: Spacious, Modern, and Preferred Club Perks
We stayed in a Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View on the second floor—spacious, modern, and brand-new. Highlights included a king bed, double vanity bathroom with rain shower, espresso maker, steamer, and a large balcony with table, chairs, and outdoor tub. The mini-bar was stocked daily with soft drinks, water, beer (plus liquor and wine for Preferred Club).
Housekeeping was spot-on, restocking everything promptly. Nitpicks: The balcony tub lacked privacy (no curtains), and dividers allowed glimpses of neighbors. Still, it was clean, comfortable, and had hooks for wet clothes—practical touches we appreciate.
Preferred Club upgrades ($254/night extra in May 2025) include private lounge access (continental breakfast, snacks, upgraded liquor), concierge, butler service (more reactive than proactive), and a dedicated restaurant area. We spent time in the lounge for its AC and balcony views but debated if it’s worth it. Skip if budget-tight; use the savings for excursions or car rental. The Preferred Club pool (infinity-style with hot tubs) was cool but lacked a swim-up bar—wait staff handled drinks.
Dining and Bars: Variety and Quality Shine
With seven dining options (four à la carte now, more coming), Secrets delivers. No reservations needed, which we loved.
- Market Café: Buffet for breakfast/lunch—Vegas-level abundance with American classics, stir-fry, sushi, salads. Kept impeccably clean.
- Himitsu: Asian fusion; great sushi and ambiance that transports you.
- Teara: South American; vibrant decor matching the theme.
- Portofino: Italian; solid options.
- Oceana: Seafood; fresh and flavorful.
- Barefoot Grill: Daytime grill specials—order burgers/hot dogs from swim-up bars!
- French Restaurant: Opening soon.
- Coffee Shop: One of Secrets’ best—handcrafted drinks in a chic space.
We tried room service for breakfast (24/7, included)—delicious and set up table-side. Overall, food quality exceeded expectations; newer resorts like this nail high-end buffets.
Six bars/lounges: Two swim-up pools (chill vibes), sports bar (turns nightclub 11 PM–1 AM), and others with ocean views. Liquor was premium; no complaints. Vibe was mellow due to low occupancy, but expect livelier crowds soon.
Pools and Beach: Relaxed Vibes with a Twist
Three main pools (plus smaller ones) offer endless loungers—no chair-hogging needed. The infinity pools overlooking the ocean are highlights, with strong breezes keeping you cool. Swim-up bars were fun; order food without leaving!
The beach is stunning: Crystal-clear, calm waters protected by a cove, white sand, shallow for wading. But it’s public, a 2–3 minute walk down a path and across the street. A Secrets attendant sets up chairs/towels and provides a cooler with beer/soda/water (8 AM–5 PM), but no waiter service. Grab drinks from the on-site local restaurant (rum punches ~$12.50)—fits Aruba’s vibe of trying off-resort spots. No umbrellas, so pack clips if windy. If beach-focused, note the public aspect; otherwise, it’s paradise.
Activities, Spa, and Gym: Plenty to Do
Daytime activities include complimentary cocktail/cooking classes (sushi, pizza, guacamole), rum tastings, corn hole, dance lessons, and darts. Bike tours to a scenic peninsula start soon. Golf nearby (extra cost)—not a golf-centric resort.
The spa is spacious with sauna, steam, hydrotherapy (free with treatment, $79 otherwise). We’re spa converts; couples massages start ~$250.
Gym on the third floor: Great equipment, views, and an attentive attendant (helpful with form, kept it spotless—opinions varied on his policing style).
Entertainment: Outdoor shows/live music nightly; mellow during our stay. Casino opening December 2025.
Who Is This Resort For? Our Recommendations
Perfect for couples seeking luxury all-inclusive with variety—romantic dinners, pools, and activities. Honeymoons or anniversaries work with add-ons like private cabanas ($250–$300/day). Great for group trips (birthdays, friends) or weddings (rooftop venue with views). Adventure seekers: Rent a car to explore Aruba.
Not ideal for hardcore beach loungers wanting private, waiter-served sands. Split stays (like ours with Bucuti) give the best of boutique romance and mega-resort amenities.
Final Thoughts: Why We Love Secrets Baby Beach
This resort exceeded expectations—modern, high-quality, with stunning views and top-notch service. As Aruba’s nicest all-inclusive (in our opinion), it’s a winner for winter escapes (warm water year-round). Expansions will elevate it further. Compared to Bucuti: Secrets offers more options and pools; Bucuti wins on beach intimacy.
