Curaçao Lifts Border Restrictions for U.S. Tourists

CuracaoThe Caribbean island of Curacao aims to kick off 2021 on a high note, announcing earlier this week that previous border restrictions have been lifted. American residents from all states will be allowed entry without the past 14-days quarantine requirements if they adhere to entry protocols. The announcement follows the island’s initial phased reopening, which began in October, and coincides with the return of non-stop flights from the east coast.

Curacao Tourism Board; The Department of Health, Environment and Nature and the Department of Economic Development collectively classify all stats residents in the United States as “medium risk.”

“Curacao has taken a cautious approach to reopen,” Paul Pennicook, CEO of the Curacao Tourism Board said on Monday. “We are confident in our ability to safely welcome all American travelers and provide them with an exceptional experience in a responsible manner that also takes into account the well-being of the local Curacao community.”

This winter, there are direct flights from Miami, Newark and New York to Hato Curaçao International Airport. The airport now has contactless know-how, which, as the officers noted, “Allows American tourists to pass customs and immigration controls earlier and without hindrance.”

Pennicook mentioned that Curacao is “looking forward to a good first quarter” because new resorts are opening up in this vacation spot alongside Goals by AMResorts’ Corendon Mangrove Seaside Resort. The Curaçao Marriott Seaside Resort and Renaissance Curaçao Resort & have undergone significant renovations in 2020. Sandals Resorts will also unveil its first property in Curacao this year.
